The second Purbeck Folk Festival was held in an idyllic setting on a sheep farm between Langton Matravers and Harmans Cross.

The camping field was almost flat!

There were a large number of performers - too many to list - notable were Gadarene, an instrumental group who take traditional songs (mostly 18th and 19th century ) and give them a modern funky treatment.

Also Sarah Decroocq otherwise known as June Bug or Sarazouzou, a very talented young singer, musician, songwriter.

The highlight of the festival was Quinns Quinney - a (mostly very young) skiffle band.   Remember Lonnie Donegan anyone?  They performed many of his songs  - from Rock Island line to My Old Man's a Dustman - with huge energy and enthusiasm  - not to mention talent and a large variety of instruments.

There was also a Ceilidh which was - interesting.  The dance area would have benefited from having the rocks removed from it first, but fortunately only one or two people fell over and there were no serious injuries.

We also managed to fit in a couple of walks and a ride on the steam train, as well as lots of eating and drinking, so it was a very full and enjoyable weekend.

Oh, and a few people were transformed into fairies.
