Langton Herring Double-walk
22nd April 2007
Penny and Richard organised two walks on the same day, meeting at their ends at the same pub. One of the walks was some 8 miles long and began at 10 AM, the other 3 miles and started at 1130. They were designed to meet back at the pub, the Elm Tree Inn, for a shared lunch at about 1 PM. The Elm Tree Inn is an excellent 16th century inn, once a famous haunt for smugglers and was the lunchtime venue for Barnes Wallis, the designer of the famous Dam Busters bomb when the bomb was being tested on Chesil Beach.
The walks both went well, with the second being more of a stroll and vacuuming up a late member who missed Penny's deadline.
