Abbotsbury Candle-lit Gardens Walk
4th November, 2007

We met yet again at 6 for 6:30PM at the main entrance for our annual foray into Abbotsbury Candlelit subtropical gardens to experience the magic among the darkness and sparkling lights. Being a group of 14, we were entitled to the group discount rates which paid for the tea afterwards!

Yet again, and we are always so very lucky, the weather was perfect for the meeting; cold air, warm braziers and misting breath all add to the atmosphere - though no 'Wooden Man' to enthrall the children this year.

Plants and ponds were all lit up in lurid colours, while the tea rooms served up their usual high-quality snacks we enjoyed at the end.

Thank you, Stephanie, for arranging the meeting so very well this year.

Sam shows Lily-Rose the wooden reindeer and gets a snuggle before we start.

Sam and Shane joined us again this year, bringing Sabbath with them.

Lovely lit still life displays were all around us.

Poor little Lily-Rose sits in the cold mist - but not for long!

"Rudolph phone home."

We gathered at the viewpoint, and some of us got flashed!

Looking a bit like the set of the war film Apocaplypse Now.

Stephanie and Wendy caught mid-gossip in the dark, illuminated by the flash.

Our traditional stop for a warm at the brazier -Jack and Gracie warm their bones too.

Silhouette against a golden bough.

Beautiful reflections in the still pools are notoriously difficult to capture on film.

All displayed art works are for sale.

Stephanie and grandaughter Lily-Rose, as Lily-Rose has her face tickled in the dark.

Through the wall lay more illuminated gardens.

Electric reindeer show Christmas is on its way.

Alison and Gracie loom silently out of the darkness . . .

. . . and disappear back in to it, as silently as they had come!

We were getting engulfed in a fine mist, invisible in the dark but clear to the camera!

While most of us sat indoors in the warm looking a wee bit guilty . . .

. . . the dogs were forced to sit outside in the cold.

Janet had forgotten where she had put her entry sticker . . .

. . . and Penny gave Lily-Rose a final snuggle.
